Daegu is one of Korea’s three largest cities and also an international sports city. In particular, when it hosted the 2011 Daegu World Championships in Athletics, Daegu was selected as the world’s second international athletics city after Stuttgart, Germany.

It is an international sports city that has successfully hosted the 2017 Daegu Indoor World Masters Athletics Championships and the 2026 Daegu World Masters Athletics Championships.

The Daegu Marathon has been held as a World Athletics-certified branded event since 2013.

■ Make your own way to Daegu

Please make your own way to Daegu International Airport, Korea.

Currently, low-cost airlines such as T'way Air and Jin Air operate regular direct flights from Taoyuan International Airport (TPE) to Daegu International Airport (TAE). Please search for and purchase suitable flights on your own.

Flight time: approximately 2.5 hours.

■ Daegu Airport↔️Daegu Grand Hotel

Route 1: Take a taxi

• Time: about 20–30 minutes, depending on traffic conditions.
• Cost: about KRW 10,000–15,000.
• Advantages: The most direct and easiest option, especially suitable for travelers with luggage. You can take a taxi directly from the taxi stand outside the airport.

Route 2: Take the metro

• From Daegu Airport Station to Ayanggyo: take a bus (Express 1, Palgong 1, 401, 101-1) or a taxi; walking distance is about 1.8 km.

1. From Ayanggyo, take Metro Line 1 (toward Seolhwa-Myeonggok).
2. Transfer at Banwoldang Station to Metro Line 2 (toward Yeungnam University).
3. Get off at Beomeo Station and walk about 3–5 minutes from Exit 5 to reach the hotel.

• Time: about 40–50 minutes (including transfer walking time).
• Cost: about KRW 1,250 with a transportation card.
• Advantages: The most economical option and helps avoid traffic congestion during peak hours.

Suseongmot Lake Resort (수성못 유원지)

Address: 35-5 Yonghak-ro, Suseong-gu, Daegu

This is a beautiful urban lake with a flat lakeside walking path, making it perfect for an evening stroll after the race to relax tight muscles. There are many unique cafés and restaurants by the lake where you can sit back and enjoy the lake view and sunset. Post-race fatigue is best healed by scenery like this.

Daegu Seomun Market & Seomun Night Market (대구 서문시장 & 서문시장 야시장)

Address: 45 Daejang-ro 26-gil, Jung-gu, Daegu

Daegu’s largest traditional market, especially famous for its night market food. After the race, you can come here to try a variety of authentic local snacks, such as flat dumplings (납작만두), knife-cut noodles (칼국수), tteokbokki, and more, enjoying the widest variety of food with the least walking.

Apsan Cable Car (Apsan Observatory) (앞산 케이블카(앞산 전망대))

Apsan Observatory is praised as an architectural site that successfully blends city and nature, history and future. It not only attracts many visitors, but also serves an educational purpose by showing Daegu citizens living in Daegu the city’s true character.

Take the cable car up and down the mountain with no effort at all. From the observatory, you can enjoy a panoramic view of Daegu, especially the spectacular night view as the city lights come on, making it the perfect ending to your Daegu Marathon trip.

• For any injury or accident occurring during the Daegu Marathon, aside from medical expenses covered according to the insurance company’s regulations, the organizer bears no responsibility.

Insurance Coverage

• The race period refers to the time from the start of participation in the marathon until the end of the race and dismissal.
• Injury refers to sudden accidental external impact, meaning bodily damage caused by an external force.
• Illness refers to diseases caused internally within the body. In marathon races, illnesses such as myocardial infarction, cerebral hemorrhage, breathing difficulties, vomiting, and muscle pain are particularly common. (Except for sprains, fractures, cuts, etc., most incidents may be classified as illness.)
• Marathon injury disability refers to a permanent impairment that remains after physical recovery due to a sudden accidental external incident (injury) during the marathon. Insurance benefits are paid according to the disability rate. Only aftereffects related to the injury are covered; if the disability is related to a pre-existing illness, no payment will be made.
• If death occurs after the race due to excessive drinking, liability may be pursued. No compensation will be provided for matters unrelated to the marathon. Therefore, please do not drink alcohol or engage in other activities that may hinder physical recovery after exercise once the race has ended.
