The Hokkaido Marathon is a full marathon race that has been held since 1987. Taking advantage of Sapporo’s cool climate, it has become the only full marathon in Japan held during the summer. In Japan, it is an officially recognized event by the Japan Association of Athletics Federations, and the course is certified by AIMS and JAAF. The marathon route starts from the TV Tower in Odori Park and passes by Nakajima Park, Hokkaido University, and the Hokkaido Government Office, offering beautiful scenery along the way. Take the JR Rapid Airport from the airport, transfer at “Sapporo Station” to the Namboku Subway Line to “Susukino Station”, then walk about 10 minutes (850 meters) from Exit 4 to reach the hotel.

[Airport Bus] Please refer to the route map

Take the airport bus from New Chitose Airport, get off at “Minami 3-jo Susukino”, then walk 12 minutes to reach the hotel.

It is about a 7-minute walk (500 meters) from the hotel to the race pack pickup location (Odori Park 8-chome).

It is about a 15-minute walk (1.1 km) from the hotel to the race start/finish point (Odori Nishi 4-chome).

Holders of a Taiwan passport may enter and exit Japan visa-free, but the passport must be valid for more than 6 months and must include the Republic of China national ID number. Holders of foreign passports should check for themselves whether a Japanese visa is required.


[Time Difference]

All of Japan is in the same time zone, Greenwich Mean Time (G.M.T.) +9 hours, which is 1 hour ahead of Taiwan.

[Race Regulations]

  • Once it has been confirmed that the participant has paid the registration fee and completed the registration process, the participant is deemed to have agreed to these registration rules.
  • After registration, cancellations due to personal reasons are not permitted.
  • No one other than the registered applicant may participate in the race (no substitute runners). If discovered, the participant’s eligibility will be revoked. If a participant is found to have falsified their age, gender, or other information, their eligibility will also be revoked. In addition, if a participant seriously interferes with the preparation or operation of the event, the event secretariat may revoke their eligibility at its discretion. In such cases, the registration fee will not be refunded.
  • In the event of extreme heat, the organizer will decide before the start or on the day of the event whether the race will be canceled, and the registration fee will not be refunded. If the heat stress index [WBGT] reaches 28 or above, the race may be canceled. In addition, decisions will be made based on WBGT forecast values published on the Ministry of the Environment website, and new checkpoints may be added or existing checkpoints may close earlier before the race starts.
  • In the event of illness or other accidents, the organizer will only take appropriate emergency measures, except in cases caused intentionally or through gross negligence by the organizer, and will bear no other responsibility.
  • Please be sure to follow all race precautions separately established by the organizer. If the organizer determines that a participant is unable to continue, the participant may be advised to stop the race. In addition, if misconduct such as course-cutting is discovered during the race, the organizer will take measures to disqualify that participant from future participation.
  • Participants agree that their name, age, gender, address (country, prefecture, and municipality), records, likeness, and other information used in event videos, photographs, articles, reports, and records may be reported, published, and used in newspapers, television (including commercial advertisements), magazines, the internet, flyers, and other media. Participants also agree that the rights to such publication belong to the organizer and that they may not exercise portrait rights.
  • The organizer understands the importance of personal information and will comply with relevant laws and regulations regarding its protection. The organizer will also strictly manage the personal information provided by participants (including information entered at the time of registration) in accordance with its own personal information protection policy. In order to ensure the smooth operation of the event, participants’ personal information may be used for participant guides, record notifications, related information notices, next event guides, record announcements, emergency response, and cooperation with medical institutions, and may also be provided to third parties such as the Japan Association of Athletics Federations and event sponsors. In addition, the organizer may use your personal information when providing various services and product introductions from the organizer, event sponsors, and supporting organizations, and may also provide your personal information to event sponsors and supporting organizations. There may also be cases where the organizer or its contractors need to confirm the details of a participant’s registration.


Bib Exchange Voucher

Please present the “2D barcode for registration” on your smartphone for pickup, or print it out and bring it to the pickup location. If the displayed information differs from the information you entered, please notify the secretariat.

If you do not have a smartphone or are unable to print the pass, please go to the runners’ service desk on the day of race pack pickup. Staff will provide you with a printed copy.


Changing Room

Tents will be set up in Odori Park, but space is limited, so please wear as little extra clothing as possible.

Please avoid staying in the tents for long periods, and leave the tent immediately after changing.


Baggage Check

Located within Odori Park, but the drop-off location differs depending on the starting point.

Please go to the appropriate baggage drop area and place your baggage under your assigned number.

*The organizer will not move your baggage, so please collect it from the baggage drop location. When you collect your baggage, we will match it with your runner bib number at the exit.

*Please note that we cannot accept valuables.


Distance Markers

In addition to markers every 1 km, from the final 5 km onward, markers will also be displayed every 1 km until the finish line.

*The 9 km point is located inside a tunnel, so for safety reasons, it will be displayed before entering the tunnel.
