Marathon and Half Marathon start area


Finish area

  • To reduce congestion in the finish area and avoid accidents, participants are requested to leave the finish area as soon as possible after crossing the finish line. To make it easier for participants to meet family and friends after the race, the organizer will designate Causeway Bay Sports Ground as the official meeting point.
  • Spectators or members of the public who wish to watch the race may enter the public cheering area at Victoria Park through Gate 4. During the race, the public will not be able to use Gates 14, 15, 16, and 17 to enter or exit Victoria Park.

Getting There

Transportation suggestions for your independent trip. Actual traffic conditions are subject to announcements on the day, and you may also book tickets in advance to avoid limited availability.

Taiwan currently has direct flights from Songshan, Taoyuan, Taichung, and Kaohsiung International Airport to Hong Kong Airport. You may check Hong Kong International Airport to find your preferred flight arrangement.


■ Hong Kong International Airport ↔️ Prudential Hotel

  • Route 1: From the Ground Transportation Centre at the airport, take Airport Bus A21, passing 10 stops (Hong Kong Port of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge, Lantau Link Bus-Bus Interchange, AquaMarine, Hoi Tak Court, Metropark Hotel Mongkok, Mong Kok Centre, Bank Centre, Sino Centre, Man Ming Lane, Nathan Hotel), get off at Prudential Centre Stop, then walk about 2 minutes (91 meters) to the hotel.
  • Route 2: From the Ground Transportation Centre at the airport, take Airport Bus A22, passing 4 stops (Hong Kong Port of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge, Lantau Link Bus-Bus Interchange, Austin Station, Shanghai Street), get off at Chi Wo Street Stop, then walk about 4 minutes (290 meters) to the hotel.
  • Route 3: From the Ground Transportation Centre at the airport, take Airport Bus A25, passing 2 stops (Hong Kong Port of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge, Lantau Link Bus-Bus Interchange), get off at Wui Cheung Road Stop, then walk about 10 minutes (700 meters) to the hotel.

  • Walk about 6 minutes (450 meters) from Victoria Park to Island Line - Tin Hau Station, ride 2 stops (Causeway Bay Station, Wan Chai Station), transfer at Admiralty Station to the Tsuen Wan Line, get off at Jordan Station, then walk about 1 minute (81 meters) back to the hotel.

[Event Rules]

Baggage arrangements

  • Before depositing baggage, participants must complete baggage inspection at the baggage checkpoint. The organizer will not handle any unchecked baggage.
  • As a large number of participants will queue to deposit baggage on race morning, please arrive at the baggage deposit area according to the recommended time to avoid delaying your start.  
  • Baggage deposit must be completed no later than 25 minutes before the race starts. The organizer reserves the right to refuse baggage from participants arriving after the designated baggage deposit time.
  • Before depositing baggage, please securely attach the baggage tag provided by the organizer to your bag and hand it over to the designated baggage vehicle.
  • For prohibited items in the race area, please refer to the final information.
  • All baggage for marathon events will be transported to the finish area at Victoria Park. Participants may collect their baggage after the race at the designated area below.
  • Participants who do not need to deposit baggage may proceed directly to the waiting area on Nathan Road (from Haiphong Road to Middle Road) to prepare for the start. 


Course arrangements

  • Turning point record: Participants must pass over the timing mat placed at the turning point to verify completion of the full course. If a participant's timing chip has no turning point record, the organizer will not provide that participant's race time.
  • Water stations and food:

The organizer will provide distilled water to participants at the start, finish, and approximately every five kilometers along the course, and sports drinks will be provided to marathon participants at water stations after the 10 km mark.

The organizer will provide bananas and other food at approximately the 25 km and 30 km marks for marathon participants in need (limited quantities).

After completing the race, the organizer will distribute distilled water, bananas, and energy bars to all participants in the finish area.

★Note: Energy bars and other food may contain peanut ingredients. Please take note.

  • Facilities and services:

First aid stations (provided by the Auxiliary Medical Service) will be set up at the start, at each water station along the course, and at the finish. Medical bicycles will also patrol the course to monitor conditions.

The organizer will provide physiotherapy services in the finish area (provided by the School of Medical and Health Sciences, Tung Wah College, Department of Physiotherapy).

Portable toilets will be set up at the start, at each water station along the course, and on the course.

  • Other course notes:

To ensure emergency vehicles can quickly reach incident sites, participants must not enter emergency vehicle lanes during the event and must follow staff instructions at all times.

Distance markers will be placed at every kilometer along the course.

The official timing vehicle will lead participants in the Marathon Challenge category from the start to the finish.


Important notes

  1. As the event takes place early in the morning, all participants are kindly requested to keep quiet to minimize disturbance to residents living near the course.
  2. To ensure the safety of all participants, event staff will maintain order along the course, and participants must follow staff instructions.
  3. To avoid accidents, the organizer urges participants not to stop for photos in the start area, along the course, or in the finish area. 
  4. To ensure roads can reopen on schedule and normal traffic can resume, the organizer will establish checkpoints along the course. If any participant fails to pass a checkpoint within the designated time, event staff will terminate that participant's eligibility to continue the race. Participants must follow staff instructions and board the designated shuttle bus back to Victoria Park. The organizer reserves the right to refuse future participation in the Standard Chartered Hong Kong Marathon and other organizer-hosted events to participants who fail to comply with instructions.
  5. The organizer reserves the right to change any course before or during the event without prior notice due to weather, actual road conditions, or emergencies. If emergency vehicles must use part of the course during the race to respond quickly to an emergency, the organizer may suspend the event. In any emergency, participants must follow the instructions of on-site staff or law enforcement officers. If the course is changed for any of the above reasons, the registration fee will not be refunded or returned.
  6. To reduce congestion in the finish area and avoid accidents, participants are requested to leave the finish area as soon as possible after crossing the finish line. 
  7. The organizer has purchased public liability insurance. If necessary, participants are advised to purchase their own personal and other relevant insurance.
  8. Spectators and members of the public who wish to watch the event may enter the public cheering area at Victoria Park through Gate 4. During the event, the public will not be able to use Gates 14, 15, 16, and 17 to enter or exit Victoria Park.
  9. If the Hong Kong Observatory issues Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal No. 3 or above, or a Red or Black Rainstorm Warning Signal at or after 3:00 a.m. on race day, the race will be canceled. Participants are advised to pay attention to weather conditions and forecasts on the night before the race, especially any expected tropical cyclone or rainstorm warning signals during the relevant period. For event arrangements, please pay attention to broadcasts from major radio and television stations starting from 3:00 a.m. on race day.
