[Course Map] (2025 version)

[Time Limit (Checkpoint) Stations] (2025 version)

① Each checkpoint (cutoff point) will be closed according to the times listed below, and runners arriving after those times will not be allowed to continue the race.

② In addition to the checkpoints above, if a runner is clearly behind the event’s designated final pace runner (sweeper), race staff (officials) also have the authority to order that runner to stop racing.

The same applies to both races (full marathon/half marathon): once the event’s final cutoff runner (sweeper) has crossed the start line, runners behind them will not be permitted to start.

[Other Notes]

  • On sections of the course shared by the half marathon and full marathon, to ensure smooth turnarounds and merging, half marathon runners should keep to the right side, and full marathon runners should keep to the left side.
  • Distance markers will be placed every 1 km on both the half marathon and full marathon courses.
  • Split times will be recorded every 5 km.

* Your finisher certificate (race result certificate) will include:

  1. Your finishing result based on “Gross Time” (the total time from the starting gun to when you cross the finish line).
  2. Split times for every 5 km.
  3. Your “Net Time / Chip Time” (the total time from when you personally cross the start line to when you cross the finish line).

[Awards]

  • Overall results: The top three men and women will be awarded in front of the main grandstand on race day.
  • Japan Association of Athletics Federations registered division and general division: In both events, awards will be given by male and female age groups in each division (under 29, 30–34, 35–39, 40–44, 45–49, 50–54, 55–59, 60–64, 65–69, 70 and above, 55–59, 60–64, 65–69, 70 and above).
  • ※ Rankings in the Japan Association of Athletics Federations registered division and general division will be based on net finishing time (time measured from crossing the start line), not gross finishing time (time measured from the starting gun).

[Participation Gift, Finisher Award, Race Result Certificate]

  • Participation souvenir: All participants will receive an “official event original towel.” (Details such as towel specifications and design will be announced on the official event website once confirmed.)
  • Finisher award (full marathon only): Runners who complete the full marathon within the time limit will receive a “finisher medal.”

※ Please note: Since the “participation souvenir” already includes a towel, no additional finisher towel will be provided.

  • Race result certificate: This will be issued online (WEB). Paper race result certificates will not be provided.

2025 participation gift and finisher award (full marathon) for reference. For 2026, please refer to the final information.

Recommended Attractions

* Please check the product details page for the actual product content.

Besides running, don’t miss out on sightseeing—here are some recommended attractions for your reference and free travel planning!

※ The images for the suggested itineraries below are all from the official Hakodate City tourism website

Mount Hakodate

Mount Hakodate stands 334 meters above sea level. From the city side, the shape of the mountain resembles a crouching cow, so it is also known as “Cow Mountain.” During the day, you can see churches and Goryokaku Tower, characterized by the sea on both sides of the “neck,” as well as Mount Komagatake, the Tsugaru Strait, and the Shimokita Peninsula. From the sea illuminated by fishing lights in summer to the crisp winter air filled with snow and lights, you can enjoy seasonal night views that change throughout the year.

Goryokaku Tower

The Special Historic Site Goryokaku stretches out below, offering a 360-degree panoramic view of central Hakodate, Mount Hakodate, Esan, and more. You can also clearly see Goryokaku’s moat and three-dimensional star shape, as well as the remains of the fortress structure.

Hachimanzaka Slope

In 1986, Hakodate Hachimangu Shrine was relocated here due to the expansion of the prefectural office, and the slope got its name from that. The view of the slope stretching straight down to the sea is a symbolic landscape of the Motomachi area and has appeared in many advertisements and films.
