Things to Do
Besides running, sightseeing is a must too—here are some recommended attractions for your reference when planning your free trip!
■ Nagoya Castle

■ Atsuta Jingu Shrine
It is said that about 1,900 years ago, the sacred sword Kusanagi-no-Tsurugi, one of Japan's three imperial regalia, was enshrined here, marking the beginning of Atsuta Jingu Shrine. These three sacred treasures come from Japanese mythology and are said to have been bestowed upon the emperor by Amaterasu, serving as symbols of imperial succession. Atsuta Jingu is also famous for the devout faith of many warlords during the Sengoku period. For example, Oda Nobunaga is said to have visited here to pray for victory before the Battle of Okehazama.

■ Osu Kannon
Osu Kannon is a temple of the Chisan school of Shingon Buddhism and is formally known as Kitano-san Shinpukuji Hoshoin. Together with Asakusa Kannon in Tokyo and Tsu Kannon in Mie Prefecture, it is known as one of the "Three Great Kannon Temples of Japan." Various events are held throughout the year, and the 18th and 28th of each month are temple fair days, when a lively antique market is also held. To the east of Osu Kannon is the Osu Shopping Street, which developed as a temple town and is lined with restaurants, shops, vintage clothing stores, electronics stores, and more. It is recommended to enjoy some shopping there after your visit.
