Things to Do

※ For the actual product details, please refer to the product detail page.

Easy pre-race strolls: all within a 5-minute walk from the hotel

These spots are perfect for a relaxing walk after arriving on Day 1 or on the morning of Day 2 before heading out for Runner's Night.

  • Miyahara

Why we recommend it: One of Taichung’s most famous must-visit landmarks! Originally an ophthalmology clinic, it has now been transformed into a Harry Potter-style dessert shop.

Must-do for runners: Buy an extravagant ice cream for photos, or pick up beautifully packaged pineapple cakes as souvenirs to take home.

  • Shin Sei Green Waterway

Why we recommend it: Known as Taichung’s “Little Kyoto.” This beautiful riverside path is right downstairs from the hotel.

Must-do for runners: It becomes especially romantic when the lights come on in the evening, making it perfect for a pre-race walk to relax your muscles and enjoy the air of Taichung.

  • Fourth Credit Union

Why we recommend it: A branch of Miyahara, converted from an old bank, with more seating and an even more industrial-chic aesthetic.

Must-do for runners: If you want something sweet for carb-loading before the race, the waffles and ice cream here are definitely top choices.

Post-race recovery: where food and culture meet

After returning to Taichung on 11/08, besides the Umai Yakiniku reservation we can help arrange, don’t miss these places too:

  • Taichung Second Market

Distance: About a 10-12 minute walk.

Why we recommend it: Taichung’s “old kitchen,” full of authentic traditional Taiwanese brunch options.

Must-eat: Shanhe Braised Pork Rice, Lao Lai Black Tea, and Wang Ji Radish Cake & Sticky Rice Sausage. After finishing the race, this kind of hearty carbs and pork is exactly what you need for the fastest recovery!

  • Taichung Cultural and Creative Industries Park

Distance: About an 8-minute walk.

Why we recommend it: Formerly a brewery, it is now a cultural and creative park with a very spacious layout.

Must-do for runners: This is a great place for a “recovery walk” on the morning of Day 4 after the race. There are often free exhibitions in the park, and the atmosphere is quiet and elegant.

  • Yizhong Street Shopping District

Distance: About 8 minutes by taxi (right next to Umai Yakiniku Zhongyou Branch).

Why we recommend it: A favorite hangout spot for Taichung’s local youth, and more concentrated than Fengjia Night Market.

Must-do for runners: Since you’re heading to the Zhongyou branch for Umai Yakiniku, come an hour early to browse clothes, grab a bubble tea, and feel the energy of Taiwanese student life.

If you still have energy (advanced recommendation):

  • National Taichung Theater

Distance: About 15-20 minutes by taxi.

Highlight: One of the world’s nine new landmarks, designed by renowned Japanese architect Toyo Ito. Even if you don’t watch a performance, simply stepping inside to experience its “curved wall” structure is stunning, and it’s a fantastic photo spot.
